1. Supreme Court’s Rajasthan government reprimanded in students suicide case

Today, on 23 May, the student suicide case was heard in the Supreme Court. During this period, the Supreme Court also described the cases of students suicide in Kota as serious and reprimanded the Rajasthan government.

A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan in the Supreme Court said, “So far this year, 14 students have committed suicide in Kota. What are you doing about it as a state? Why are students committing suicide in Kota itself? Have you not considered it as a state. ‘

The Supreme Court made this comment during the hearing of the body of the student in Kota and the suicide case of the student of IIT Kharagpur. The court has sought a response from the Rajasthan government in this matter. The next hearing will be held on 14 July.

2. Merit List of UPSC CDS-II released

On May 23, Union Public Service Commission i.e. UPSC released the Final Merit List for Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS) – II. This time 574 candidates have qualified for the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy.

The total qualified 574 candidates include 510 males and 64 females. Candidates can check the merit list on the official website upsc.gov.in.

The training of selected candidates will be held at Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.

3. Taking Maturnity Leave Women’s Rights

On May 23, the Supreme Court, while giving a verdict in a case, said that taking maternity leave is the right of women and is an integral part of motherhood. At the same time, the court canceled the decision of the Madras High Court in which a government teacher was refused to give a maternity leave on the birth of a third child.

A bench of Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan heard the case. The bench said that the purpose of Maternity Leave is to provide social justice to women.

The court said that the woman is not only able to live with the metaphorial leave, but can also get her lost strength back. The court emphasized the wider scope of Article 21 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to life.
