In an effort to curb pollution in the national capital, the Delhi government is planning to deploy high-tech machines for round-the-year road cleaning. A demonstration of these high-tech machines, including super sucker equipment for removing cane and concrete waste, was recently held to showcase their capabilities.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, speaking to Aaj Tak, said that air pollution caused by dust and garbage along city roads has been a serious health issue for residents. “We had made provisions to bring in new machines for road cleaning in Delhi. Smoke guns will also be hired to tackle pollution. These machines will ensure regular cleaning across the city throughout the year,” she said.

She explained that each assembly constituency would have at least one such machine in operation. The equipment, she said, is fully automatic and capable of removing dust as well as large debris. It includes a built-in water system and features for automatic garbage disposal. The use of updated technology is expected to significantly reduce dust pollution and speed up cleanliness efforts.

“We are committed to transforming Delhi. These electric machines will not add to pollution while cleaning. I assure the people of Delhi that the capital will now see better sanitation and a healthier environment through the use of this latest technology,” the chief minister added.

Last month, too, the Delhi government reviewed cleaning machines presented by various companies. Officials clarified that instead of purchasing these machines, the government plans to hire them and pay based on the distance covered.

According to the CM, the latest electric machines showcased are far superior to earlier options and align with the city’s green objectives by eliminating vehicle emissions from cleaning operations.
