Naveen Jindal promoted Jindal Steel & Power has officially changed its name to Jindal Steel, effective July 22, after receiving approval from the Registrar of Companies under Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
The name change reflects the company’s strategic decision to focus more sharply on its core steel business.
Jindal Steel is amongst the largest steel-makers in India. It has invested $12 billion globally, and is working to enhance capacity, improve efficiency and lead in sustainable steelmaking.
In a statement, the company said the new name brings greater clarity to its identity, both in India and globally, while maintaining continuity with its legacy.
“The change has been made under Rule 29 of the Companies (Incorporation) Rules, 2014. A revised Certificate of Incorporation has been issued by the Registrar of Companies,” a statement by the company said.

There are no changes to the company’s Corporate Identification Number or its registered office in Hisar, Haryana.
Jindal Steel will continue to operate as a public limited company. All existing rights, obligations and contracts remain unchanged, the statement said.
The company has also completed necessary filings with stock exchanges and regulatory authorities.
While the company continues to have interests in infrastructure and mining, steel remains the primary focus.
