Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is likely to lead an all-party Indian delegation to the United States to brief the Donald Trump administration on India’s recent military escalation with Pakistan and New Delhi’s stance on evolving regional security dynamics. Tharoor was named by the government earlier today, along with six other MPs, to lead its outreach team on Operation Sindoor.
AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi is also among several opposition MPs who will be part of the seven delegations, each comprising 6-7 members, set to visit countries including the US, UK, South Africa, UAE, Qatar, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, among others.
Along with Tharoor, the delegations will be led by BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda; Sanjay Kumar Jha of JD(U); Kanimozhi Karunanidhi from DMK; Supriya Sule of NCP-Sharad Pawar; and Shiv Sena chief Shrikant Eknath Shinde.
According to sources, the delegation led by Ravi Shankar Prasad is expected to visit Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria, while Supriya Sule’s team of MPs will travel to Oman, Kenya, South Africa, and Egypt. The delegation headed by Sanjay Jha is likely to visit Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
An India Today commentator recently advocated for a global outreach mission regarding India’s military offensive against Pakistan, arguing that Shashi Tharoor and Asaduddin Owaisi should be deployed for the task, as the two leaders form an ideal combination to strengthen India’s narrative strategy.
